Barriers of Separation
April 30, 2010
Theatres are places where the public can go and forget their lives and join with other members of public to enter this fantasy world, a space where anything can be created, where your imagination can run wild. A place where it becomes an escapism from the hustle and bustle of peoples lives, but a separate world, the world we all escape to to relax.
However, it is a place in modern society where social class can still be seen, even though various people from different communities come together, there is sometimes that separation seen in the theatre which is created by the seats because the public tend to pay different prices for different seats. Barriers of Separation enters the world of theatres, but it explores seating and whether social class is still around today in modern society looking at 19th Century theatres through to modern day theatres.
